The North Bay CT-33 Thunderbirds swim team returned home from the Fred Rams championships this weekend with 20 medals in hand and some great new friendships.

Evan Lechleitner led the way for the boys with a splash by capturing a bronze medal in the 100 Fly while Tessa Steel and Ashley Stronach were golden in the 100 Free and 200 Breastroke events.

Turning in solid silver performances were Talia Preston in the 200 Back, Zaffia Laplante in the 100 Back and 400 IM events, and Brooke Bowes who had breakout performances in the 100 Breast and 200 Back.

Zeyana Laplante came away with bronze in the 100 Back and 200 Breast events while Monica Hotson was sizzling in the relay events bringing home a bronze and a posting a very fast time in the 200 Back.

Coach Penny Lecour was proud of the great performances, sportsmanship and personal bests achieved by all the swimmers and was particularly happy that the team shared a fun filled bus ride to Timmins with the North Bay Y Titans and that everyone made some great new friends.
