The North Bay Skyhawks scored 3 times in the final 5 minutes of the 3rd period to defeat the Abitibi Eskimos 5-3 at the Jus Jordan arena in Iroquois Falls on Saturday night.

Kody Carnevale tipped in a Kyle Radigan shot that gave the Skyhawks the 4-3 lead with less than 4 minutes left in regulation.

Solomon McCann scored twice for the Skyhawks including an empty netter at 18:32 of the final period. Dustin Fummerton and Trent Lizee had the other goals for the Skyhawks.

Skyhawks head coach Ian Swalucynski pointed to Trent Lizee and Mitchell Davis as players that were key to the comeback victory.

“It was a greasy, ugly road win,” admitted Swalucynski.

“Lizee stepped it up big time and was a difference maker while Davis played a strong, gritty game.”

Joel Roy, Dustin Roy and Ryan McDonald replied for the Eskimos.

Riley Ross got the victory in goal for the Skyhawks, who break out of a two-game losing streak to improve to 12-2 on the season.

The Skyhawks are back on the ice Sunday night as they host the Blind River Beavers. It's the club's first ticket redemption night of the year. Game time is the usual 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.
