The Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced the 2005 women’s soccer all-stars and major award winners as voted on by the league’s coaches.
For the second straight year, fourth year goal keeper Anna Violo and second year midfielder Stephanie Muldoon have been named second team all stars for the North/South divisions.
Violo a faculty of education student played her first three games at various positions before returning to backstop the Lakers as Kristine Snedden sustained a season ending injury. In seven games played Violo recorded a 2-4-1 record with a 1.525 goals against average with two shutout victories against Guelph and Ryerson.
“For Anna, this is a great achievement,” said head coach Vito Castiglione.
“She stepped into the position three games into the season and never looked back. Anna’s great goalkeeping kept us in many games. She always gave 100% every time she stepped on the field whether it was in a game or practice. She will be missed next year.”
Muldoon is a second year Midfielder that hails from Oakville. Muldoon played in nine games tallying 740 minutes of field time while recording one goal for the Lakers.
“Stephanie played the majority of the season injured and played with grit and determination. She never quit and always played the game at a high level,” added Castiglione.
“It is nice to see that the other coaches in the OUA have taken notice of these two fine athletes.”
