Grant McGee had a pair of goals on the power play as the Nipissing Lakers completed the weekend sweep, defeating the #9 ranked Carelton Ravens 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Ice House in Ottawa.

Brogan Bailey and Michael Moreau had the other goals for the Lakers who improve to 6-4-2 on the season.

The Lakers made the most of their chances, chasing Ravens starter Matt Dopud after he allowed 3 Lakers goals on the first 9 shots he faced.

Overall, Carelton outshot the Lakers 41-20 in the contest and Lakers head coach Mike McParland says Cantlon was the difference as he turned away 38 of 41 Ravens shots.

"We built a 4-1 lead and we hung on because of Cantlon's solid play," said McParland.

But McParland didn't hesitate to give credit to his club's strong defensive zone coverage for playing a big part in both weekend wins, including their tight 2-1 win at home over Carleton Friday night at Memorial Gardens.

"We never panicked, the guys blocked a lot of shots," added McParland.

"The players are buying in to our defensive zone coverage."

Shane Bakker, Joey Manley and Justin Caruana had the goals for the Ravens.

Game Notes:

Lakers forward Ryan Maunu was limited and played the wing after sustaining a hand injury while Brodie Beard left the game with an undetermined injury in the first period...The Lakers will make their longest road trip of the season next weekend as they travel to Thunder Bay for a pair of games against Lakehead University.
