The Nipissing University Lakers men’s hockey team will face-off in a mid-season exhibition game against the Waterloo Warriors on January 2, at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.

The two teams last met on November 20, in a tightly fought goaltenders battle that saw the Warriors edge the Lakers 1-0.

Waterloo currently sits fourth in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) West division with an 11-5-1 record; while Nipissing is in seventh place in the OUA East division with a 6-9-1 record.

“The last time we played Waterloo, it was a fast and entertaining game with lots of good scoring chances and some big hits, and both goaltenders stood on their head,” said Lakers head coach Mike McParland.

“I think fans can expect more of the same this time. Both teams will be looking for a win to build momentum and confidence going in to the second half of the regular season.”

With the early start time, the Lakers are looking to attract young families to the game to watch some excellent hockey and have tons of fun. Fans can expect lots of excitement on and off the ice with many games and prizes for young families.

Tickets are available at Memorial Gardens box office; tickets cost $11 for adults, $7.50 for students and seniors, and $5.50 for children 12 and under (GST included).
