The Lady Lakers garnered two all-star nominations as the Ontario University Athletics handed out its hardware over the weekend.

Lakers striker Nicole O’Brien was named a first team all star for her impressive rookie season. O’Brien tallied 12 goals finishing second only to Eilish McConville of Queen’s in the OUA scoring race and finished fourth in the country.

“Nicole has the ability to take on any defender and create opportunities to score,” said head coach Vito Castiglione.

“Nicole is a very skilled striker who has great presence in front of the goal.”

Stephanie Muldoon received her third consecutive second team all-star nomination. The third year Oakville native has been a model of consistency for the Lakers in the midfield position.

“Stephanie has been a great leader of this team. She is a very aggressive player who competes hard for every ball. She has the ability to change the momentum of the game and is well respected by her team mates and opponents. She has the ability to control the midfield and has great vision of the field of play,” added Castiglione.

“It is nice to see that these two players were recognized by the coaches in the OUA. Their passion, dedication and commitment to soccer are second to none.”

The Lady Lakers finished the regular season with a (3-10-2) record and were 6 points away from the final playoff position. The Lakers will be looking to add to the talented base of rookies and building towards the 2007 season with making the post-season as the number one goal.
