COPPER CLIFF, ON - Adam Di Brina scored on a tip in 2:05 into overtime to give the Sudbury Jr. Wolves a 2-1 win over the North Bay Jr. Trappers Wednesday night at the McClelland arena.

Scott Pawson scored the lone goal in the third period by the Trappers who were backstopped by Sudbury product Landon Noel, who turned away 34 shots in his second start for the North Bay squad after coming over in a deal from the Kingston Voyageurs. He was named the game’s first star.

“It was a close, tight checking game,” admitted Jr. A Trappers head coach/GM Ian Swalucynski.

“I thought we played well. We had enough chances to win and their goalie made some big saves, and our goalie made some big saves. That’s the way it’s been lately, a lot of one goal games.”

Newcomer Brett Pinder scored the Jr. Wolves lone regulation time goal in the second period.

The game also was the debut for 1992 birth year defenceman Tom Dowell, who was acquired from the Minnesota Owls of the MJHL earlier this week.

“He’s a heady defenceman, smart in his own end and has big shot from the point,” noted Swalucynski about the Olathe, Kansas product who is a former Jr. teammate of JP Kascsak.
