The North Bay Hilltop Junior Blades Minor PeeWee ‘AA’ hockey team took home the gold medal on home turf in the 25th annual West Ferris Early Bird Tournament last weekend.

In the round robin play, the Junior Blades won their first game 4-2 against the Scarborough Young Bruins. They had a loss to the Eastern Ontario Cobras 3-0, but then rebounded with two wins against Guelph Junior Storm 4-1, and Clarington Toros 3-0.

With 3 wins and a loss, the team finished second in the standings and went straight to the finals to face the Cobras a second time. With their aggressive forechecking style of play they scored first and retained the lead for the entire game to eventually win 4-1.
