The North Bay Junior A Trappers showed their commitment to local content by re-signing forwards Darnell Koosees and Adam Marceau.

The 1991 birth year forwards are graduates of the North Bay Midget AAA Trappers program and finished up their first season last year with the Junior ‘A’ Trappers.

“I like it a lot here going to school here and playing in front of family, it means a lot,” said the soft spoken Koosees, who scored 5 goals and 6 assists in 34 games last season.

Marceau grew up a fan of the local Junior team and he’s glad to return for a second season.

“I’m not here for myself, I’m playing for the city of North Bay and I want to help raise that 4th banner and I think this is definitely the year,” said Marceau, who scored 10 goals and added 9 assists in 48 regular season games last year.

Trappers head coach and General Manager Ian Swalucynski believes the two players gained a lot of confidence last season in their rookie campaigns.

“They didn’t want the puck at the beginning of the year but later on they wanted it more and more,” said Swalucynski.

“Koosees established himself near the end of the year and Adam established himself as a real grinding type forward that can chip in offensively. However, I don’t think either guy has reached their potential and it will be exciting to see them grow even more this year. “

Jr. A Trappers President Chris Dawson believes having local talent is important as the club builds for the future.

“We need hard working local kids and Adam and Darnell are great examples of what you can achieve through hard work. We are excited to have them return and we hope more local players will recognize what our junior program has to offer here and follow their lead.”
