The North Bay Promo Sports Midget 'A' Ice Boltz completed their season this past weekend competing in the OWHA provincials held in Brampton. The Boltz advanced out of their round robin pool before bowing out in the quarter finals to the eventual silver medalist Clarington Flames.

"We'd been playing great hockey going into the provincial tournament and we knew we'd have to play flawless hockey against the best teams in the province if we wanted to make it into the medal round," said Boltz head coach Luc Seamont.

In Midget 'A' and 'AA' tournament play this season, the Ice Boltz recorded 42 wins, 9 losses and 3 ties, winning five Gold medals and playing in the semi-finals in their two other competition appearances.

"These young female athletes earned the right to be considered playing among the top five teams in the province and we are proud of them all. Every team at the Provincials knew of the North Bay Ice Boltz and they brought their best game to the rink. For some that was not enough, however that's precisely what it took for Clarington to advance and we have to acknowledge that they played excellent hockey against us," added Seamont.

In addition to their outstanding tournament record, the Ice Boltz also played in the boys NDHL league with a record of 10-7-3 in season play while earning a bronze medal at the league playoffs held at the end of March.

"By any measurement, we've had a terrific season and for 5 of our players, it really has been a golden end to their North Bay and District Girls Hockey Association careers. Without a doubt, we've not heard the last of them as they'll surely be welcomed additions on any varsity or intermediate team anywhere and we wish them continued success," concluded Seamont.
