High School weekend sports

The St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears came home Sunday with a high school hockey tournament Championship. The Bears went undefeated in the Trinity College Invitational tournament in Port Hope over the weekend.

Former Trapper Graham Loyst was the hero in the final as he scored the overtime winner as the Bears defeated McLaughlin College 3-2.

In hoops, the West Ferris Trojans senior boys basketball team won the 22nd annual Canadore/Best Western Shootout tournament which took place over the weekend in North Bay.

The Trojans defeated their rivals from Chippewa in the senior boys final 79-48.

The Trojans Dustin Anthony was named the tournament MVP as he racked up 98 points in only four games.

Staying on the hard court, the Chippewa Raiders Sr. Boys basketball team is departing for a unique journey as they head on a week-long trip to Nova Scotia were they will face a number of Triple A schools from that province.
