NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale junior defenseman and North Bay native Ann-Renée Guillemette has been elected team captain for the 2007-08 NCAA hockey season. Guillemette was selected by a team vote Tuesday morning and will be formally introduced at the team banquet tonight.

Guillemette has appeared in 82 games over her first three seasons, making her the most experienced player on Yale’s roster for next season. She has two goals and five assists for her career.

“Ann-Renée is quiet, but she is willing to take on responsibility,” said Yale head coach Hilary Witt.

“She has been through a lot, but she has always handled adversity like a pro. Whenever something did not go her way, she just worked harder to overcome it.”

Guillemette played for the Sudbury Wolves prior to Yale. She attended École Secondaire Algonquin in North Bay and has been an on-ice coach at Randy Edmonds Eurocamp hockey school in the summer.

Yale is coming off a 2006-07 season in which the Bulldogs won 15 games, the second-most in school history, and scored a school-record 96 goals.
