Guardian Panthers golden girls again

The North Bay Guardian Panthers captured gold at the Nepean Girls Hockey Association tournament over the weekend. The Panthers went 4-0-1 with some great goals, solid defense and a red hot goalie.


The North Bay Guardian Panthers captured gold at the Nepean Girls Hockey Association tournament over the weekend.

The Panthers went 4-0-1 with some great goals, solid defense and a red hot goalie. The panthers only gave up 1 goal during the whole tournament which meant Isabella Belanger recorded 4 shutouts in 5 games.

Panthers started the tournament strong against Cornwall Red beating them 4-0 with Cristina Brownlee recording a hat-trick. Player of the game was Cristina Brownlee.

The second game was very tight with Isabella making some very key saves and Stephanie Lalonde scoring the first goal of the game. The game ended in a 1-1 tie against Nepean #2. The player of the game was Bree Modeen.

In the third game, The Panthers offense was strong again beating Nepean #4 4-0. The player of the game was Emily Currie.

The semi-finals saw the Panthers playing Nepean #1 with the Panthers winning that game with 1 defense short, get well soon Amber, 6-0. The player of the game was Brigitte Kelly who played with great pride and pain because of an ankle injury during a game just weeks before.

In the championship game, the North Bay Guardian Panthers played against the North Bay Ice Boltz. The game was very tight and full of emotions on both sides of the rink. Cristina Brownlee opened the scoring in the first period and added another one in the second and with the help of the defense and forwards, Isabella record another amazing shutout and was player of the game. The Panthers went on to win the finals 2-0.

The champion North Bay Guardian Panthers include Morgan Vesterback, Alysha Belec, Brittany Jenkins, Stephanie Lalonde, Emily Currie, Jessica Giroux, Bree Modeen, Jenna Humphries, Amber Mathias, Miranda Desbiens, Cristina Brownlee, Brigitte Kelly, Meegwyn Alisappi and Isabella Belanger.
