Golden weekend for Youth Volleyball Club

The North Bay Youth Volleyball Club had a busy weekend as the Girls 14U Flurry captured the gold medal in the Ontario Volleyball Association Hawkins Cup tournament.
The North Bay Youth Volleyball Club had a busy weekend as the Girls 14U Flurry captured the gold medal in the Ontario Volleyball Association Hawkins Cup tournament.

Seeded 11th out of 12 teams the Flurry took the tournament by storm losing only their opening match to the third seeded Toronto West Storm Thunder 25-23, 21-25 and 15-9.

Finishing second in pool play the team advanced by defeating the Orillia Sun 25-17, 25-13 and Burlington Blaze 25-17, 25-20.

In semi-final action the Flurry overpowered the number one seed Storm Cyclone 25-14 and 25-9.

In the gold medal match the team impressed the crowd with consistent team play defeating the Peel Selects 25-17 and 25-15.

The team played well in their second OVA tournament. Their first place finish advances the team to tier two for their next competition. The girls are preparing for the provincial championships in April.
