The Nipissing University Lakers hockey team will hold their inaugural Blue-White game on Friday, September 11, and you are invited, free-of-charge.

The game, featuring players competing for a spot on the final roster, takes place at 7 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.

“There is a great deal of excitement and anticipation leading up to the launch of our first season and the team is thrilled to be able to offer free admission to fans who just gotta be there for the Blue-White game,” said Al McDonald, president of Hockey Operations Nipissing Varsity Hockey Team.

“The community has been very supportive of the Lakers hockey team.”

With a number of highly talented former Ontario Hockey League Major Junior players in training camp, and significant competition for the final roster spots, fans can expect a fast-paced, entertaining game with plenty of action.

“We’ve had a lot of very good players in camp over the past week. I’ve been very impressed by the caliber of play,” said head coach Mike McParland.

“The Blue-White game provides a more accurate assessment of how these players react in a real game situation, so it is a vital tool for the coaching staff as we finalize our roster for the year. This is a player’s last chance to impress the coaches before the final roster cuts are made.”
