Eurocamp Summer Stars fall in May Madness final

For the second time a Eurocamp team has advanced to a 'AAA' final in a summer tournament.

For the second time a Eurocamp team has advanced to a 'AAA' final in a summer tournament. The Eurocamp Summer Stars team 2000 boys (8-year-olds) and featuring three boys aged 2001 advanced to the recent May madness tourney in Toronto held at York University.

After a perfect 4-0 record Eurocamp Summer Stars advanced to the 'AAA' final which features the two top teams. Teams 3 and 4 played for the 'AA' final and teams 5 and 6 played for the 'A' final.

In the final, the Stars met the Niagara Vipers - a team which they beat in game 1 of the tourney 2-1. In the final though, the Vipers came back to defeat North Bay 9-7 in a wild shootout.

"It was heartbreaking to see the dissapointment of the kids but at the same time they will be more determined come August when we go to Toronto again," said Eurocamp Summer Stars coordinator Randy Edmonds.
