NEPEAN, ON. - This weekend six Thunderbird swimmers, Sierra McCourt, Jaime Udeschini, Mackenzie King, Jesse Hives , Dylan and Jaydan Jackson travelled to Nepean to participate at the Jr Provincial Short Course Championships.
The weekend was full of excitement as three T-Birds qualilfied for evening finals with Jaydan Jackson coming away as the provincial champion in the girls 13 year old 100 & 200 backstroke. She was also able to achieve a Senior National time in her 200 back. Mackenzie King qualified in the boys 14 year old 100 & 200 backstroke placing 6th in both. Sierra McCourt qualified in the girls 15 year old 200 Individual Medley posting a personal best time in the morning preliminaries and placing 7th in the finals. Jesse Hives, Dylan Jackson and Jaime Udeschini all swam to some personal best throughout the weekend competition.
Eight other swimmers participated last weekend at the Fred Rams Championships in Timmins. Brooke Bowes swam her way to 4 gold and 2 bronze, Evan Lechlitner to 2 silver and one bronze, Jaimee Reynolds to 2 bronze and Christa Wright to one bronze. Madison Whittet posted 6 personal best, Karyn Busch posting 4 personal best and Marie Eve Gauthier posting three.
The Club will now take month off to rejuvenate and begin preparation for the long course season.
