Tom Hedican's Coach4Food campaign will return for a fourth year.

Last year the amazing North Bay Food Bank fundraiser raised a record 21,881 pounds of food.

Hedican runs a regular practice in exchange for non-perishable food items and he runs the same drills used by European professional and NHL level teams. Any teams that are interested should contact Hedican directly at [email protected].

"Practices have filled up very quickly in the past and in fact, I have had waiting lists," notes Hedican.

"I can only do a limited number during the month of December."

New Inspiration

This year the Coach4Food campaign is dedicated to Tom's Mother, Shirley Hedican, who passed away in early October.

"I promised Mom that I would dedicate this year's edition to her and would break last year's record number," said Hedican who admits breaking that number won't be an easy task.

"It will be with a heavy heart this year that I run it, but my Mom was a strong supporter of the North Bay Food Bank and I know she would want this tradition to carry on."

Hedican adds that businesses wishing to sponsor a Coach4food practice can also contact him at the same email address.

Sponsorship ranged last year from $200 to $2,000 for a practice.

"Each dollar in sponsorship is converted to 1.5 pounds of food by the food bank and is added to a team's total at the end of a session and recognized by the media, usually the next day," Hedican said.
