Plough trucks were busy cleaning off the snow from the education centre pond on Saturday morning. Cut Above Landscaping and Lunney Enterprises took to the ice to remove the very large blanket of snow from the pond behind Canadore College and Nipissing University.

Organizers say the ice may be the best its been - weather permitting - since the tournament first began back in 2006.

The ice crew will now work on flooding and use any additional snow that falls to create banks for the 8 rinks that will be built on the pond.

The deadline to sign up a team (Tyke to adult) is February 6th. If you are interested in putting in a team for the 3 on 3 event go to wwww.pondhockeyfaceoff.com or call 472-POND (7663).

The 4th Annual Northern Honda Canadian Pond Hockey Face-off takes place February 13th to 15th.
