The Chippewa Raiders completed the sweep for the NDA hockey title with a convincing 5-1 win over the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears at Memorial Gardens Tuesday afternoon.

Chippewa won the best-of-three series in two straight after winning 3-1 on Sunday afternoon in game one of the NDA final series.

Greg Richardson, the longtime Chippewa hockey coach, says it was a great feeling winning Tuesday after falling to Bears last season.

“The core group of our team lost in the NDA finals to Scollard last season and that didn’t sit right with them for 12 long months," admitted Richardson.

"They are a very tight-knit group of kids who carried out our game plan to a tee and everyone did their job.

"This was a complete team win and the boys deserved it with their efforts and commitment this year. The coaching staff couldn’t be more proud of these kids." and are looking forward to the NOSSA Championship in Sudbury March 4/5”

Grayson Bradley, Heath Bradley, Landon Boulet, Carter Thibodeau and Lucas Nashkawa did the scoring for the Raiders in the win.

Vaughn Thomson was solid once again in goal for Chippewa.

Hunter Goulais had the only goal for the Bears.

Chippewa is heading to the NOSSA Championship which takes place March 4 and 5 in Sudbury.
