CCAA Women's National Volleyball Championships at Nipissing

North Bay, ON. — The wait is over. The matchups are set. The gymnasium is polished.
North Bay, ON. — The wait is over. The matchups are set. The gymnasium is polished. And the teams are ready to play, each hoping and believing they’ll be crowned Canadian Champions on Saturday night at Nipissing University as the university hosts the 2009 Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association (CCAA) Women’s National Volleyball Championships, March 12-14.

Teams competing (in order of tournament seeding) include:
1. The University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat from Kelowna, BC; 2. Red Deer College Queen’s from Red Deer, AB; 3. Vancouver Island University Mariners from Nanimo, BC, 4. François-Xavier-Garneau Les Élans from Quebec City, PQ; 5. Humber College Hawks from Toronto, ON; 6. MacEwan College Griffins from Edmonton, AB; 7. Nipissing University Lakers from North Bay, ON; and 8. Mount Allison University Mounties from Sackville, NB.

The CCAA will announce the names of players named to the All-Canadian team, as well as the player and coach of the year awards on the evening of Wednesday, March 11, during the players’ banquet.

The first game begins Thursday, March 12, at 1 p.m. between UBC Okanagan and Mount Allison. The gold medal game takes place on Saturday, March 14 at 7 p.m. All games take place at the Robert J. Surtees Student Athletics Centre.
