Stephanie Carr of Gymtrix walked away with the All Around Gold medal from the 2009 Magical Classic in Orlando, Florida this past Friday. Stephanie is a member of Team Ontario made up of the top eight Level 7 gymnasts in the province.

In the All Around (all events combined) Stephanie finished several tenths ahead of Silver medalist Jessica Sefton who is also a member of Team Ontario. Stephanie’s Gold medal finishes on two of the four events, gave her the edge needed to secure the championship. She sailed away from Vault with a Gold and later also took top honours on Floor Exercise where she had a 4 tenths lead over 2nd place on that event. At this level of the sport, particularly at an International competition, a four tenths difference between scores on an individual event is considered significant.

Well known as one of the highest profile competitions in the U.S., Magical Classic was hosted by the famous Brown’s Gymnastics in conjunction with the International Gymnastics Association. Held at the Orange County Convention Centre, Ontario was represented by several teams including 'all star' line ups from Level 7,8,9 and National.

Following in the footsteps of two former Gymtrix teammates, Stephanie is only the third gymnast in North Bay history to qualify for the Artistic Women’s Ontario Tour team.

Stephanie is coached by Bill Rhoads and Nicki Chretien.
