SUDBURY, ON. - The Callander IDA U11 Girls played their first tournament of the year this past weekend in Sudbury.

After playing a very strong Bradford team which was our girl’s first tournament game and first game playing girls their own age, the girls settled down and played their best game of the event in the second game beating the Sault Civics Winmar FC 1-0 with a goal by Maria Dominico which was her second goal of the tournament.

The third game was against Sudbury Panhellenic Angels. The Callander squad played another strong game and were up 1-0 with a goal scored by Lia Castiglioni but fell short 2-1.

This tournament was very important because it showed our girls can they can compete very well against other northern teams their own age.

The team played great and the players parents say are very proud of them.
