Pregame for last weeks game included a Hall of Fame induction ceremony for several past and current NFC players along with Bulldogs coach and president Marc Mathon. The ceremony also included award presentation to last seasons’ All Star selections. Congratulations again to the inductees to the NFC Hall of Fame and the All Stars.

Kris Newman and the Toronto Raiders brought their 1-1 record to North Bay riding high after a 30-14 win over the Oakville Longhorns. The game promised to be an exciting affair from the start with an 8 yard touchdown run from Justin Hammond only 6 minutes into the game.

The first half ended on a Newman 75 yard run to trail 17-14. The game was back and forth all the way till the final minutes where the excitement of a safety from Andrew Findlay and Hammonds 2nd touchdown of the game was short lived by a 31 yard touchdown pass from the Raiders quarterback with seconds left in the game.

Despite the loss, this was North Bay’s best football of the year. Both sides of the ball made their plays and Hammond's running behind an offensive line who seemed to not make any mistakes, definitely put the team in a position to win.

This is week 5 and game number 5. It is time to start looking to the playoff picture. Right now, at 0-4 (W-L), we sit in the final playoff spot with a tough first round road game. Four more games left to play. Oakville this weekend, then Sarnia, Sault St. Marie, and Toronto to finish out the season.

Teams want to be playing their best football near the end of the season. Four games left to finish strong and have all the parts in the right places for playoffs.

Oakville is back after a one year hiatus from the NFC. The one time perennial powerhouse is now in a rebuilding stage but shouldn't be taken lightly as they come off their first win of the year.

The Longhorns sitting at (1-3) have NFC veteran Mark Demerling at quarterback. Demerling is ranked 3rd in the league with 348 yards passing. This weekend is a chance to get in the win column and start the surge to the post season. The game is going to be played on Saturday, June 26th at Corpus Christi High school in Burlington at 7 pm.
