Blizzards 4th at provincials

WATERLOO, ON. - The North Bay 14 and under girls “Blizzards” Volleyball team competed in the Ontario Volleyball Association Provincial Championships April 24-26 in Waterloo, Ontario.


WATERLOO, ON. - The North Bay 14 and under girls
“Blizzards” Volleyball team competed in the Ontario Volleyball Association Provincial Championships April 24-26 in Waterloo, Ontario. During the OVA season which consisted of 5 Tournaments, the Blizzards won 3 and placed 3rd on the other two. As a result they were ranked 4th out of the 64 teams that qualified for the Provincials and were placed in the Tier 1 section with the top 32 teams.

On day one the Blizzards played 3 matches in their pool winning all thus finishing first in their pool. They defeated the Diamond’s 25-12 & 25-20, Interclub Black 25-17 & 25-20, and Etobicoke Titans Blue 25-20,15-25 & 15-6. Stephanie Jennings was recognized by her coaches and received the “award of excellence” at the awards ceremony.

On day two the Blizzards were re-pooled and again won all three matches thus winning their pool. They defeated Barrie Elites Black 25-15 & 25-12, Scarborough Titans Shock 25-7 & 25-21 and Durham Attack Black 25-16 & 27-25.

On day three the Blizzards played the Hurricanes Black and won 25-20 & 25-22, they then played the Selects 95 in the Quarter finals and won 28-26 & 25-21 and went on to the semis finals against the Storm Twister from Aurora.The Blizzards fought hard but lost 17-25 & 22-25. In the Tier 1 Bronze medal game the Blizzards battled the Burlington Blaze and fell short to them 22-25 & 20-25.
