The North Bay Hilltop Variety Blades finished with two victories, one loss and one tie in the NOBHL Showcase tournament over the weekend at the Steelback Centre in Sault Ste. Marie.
On Friday afternoon the Blades opened with a 5-5 tie against the Nickel City Sons who are replacing the Onaping Falls Huskies in the Northern Ontario Bantam AAA League.
On Friday evening the Blades defeated Sudbury 4-2.
The Blades suffered their only loss of the tournament on Saturday dropping a 3-2 decision to the Soo Thunder.
On Saturday night the North Bay AAA squad bounced back with an 8-6 win over the Timmins Technosub Rangers.
The showcase event marks the start of the season for all the clubs in the five-team league.
