The Trappers and the Hilltop Variety Blades were eliminated from the playoff round at the Big Nickel AAA hockey tournament that took place in Sudbury over the weekend.

Both North Bay "AAA" squads finished with identical 1-2-1 records which left them outside the playoff round.

The Trappers finished with a 2-2 tie on Saturday afternoon as Joel Senecal and Nick Huard scored in a game that the Trappers needed to win to make the playoff round.

Meantime, the Blades came into the game with a similar fate and lost their Saturday contest 2-1 to the Ottawa Valley Titans which also eliminated them from the Big Nickel Playoff picture. Casey Restoule scored the lone goal in the loss which dropped the Blades to 1-2-1 in their four round robin games.
