The North Bay Skyhawks continued their struggles against the Blind River Beavers falling 3-1 at the Blind River Community Centre on Saturday night.
After a pair of October victories over the Beavers, the Skyhawks have now lost five straight against the club one spot ahead of them in the standings. It was a loss in a key game as a victory would have brought the Skyhawks within one point of the Beavers for fourth spot in the NOJHL. Instead the Beavers pull ahead now with a five point lead over the Skyhawks.
Skyhawks head coach Darren Turcotte felt his club played better than they did in their Friday night loss to Manitoulin but still not good enough to get two points.
"We don't play desperate hockey until we have to," said Turcotte.
"We don't have a fear of losing in the dressing room and that's something that has to come from within the dressing room."
Brad Hummel scored the lone Skyhawks goal on a second period powerplay. Josh Faulkner scored all three goals for the Beavers.
The Skyhawks hope to break out of their two-game weekend slide when they entertain the Soo Indians Sunday night at Memorial Gardens.
