The second NDA baseball semifinal in as many days was entertaining to say the least, with the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears defeating the Algonquin Barons in extra innings by a 7-6 score.

The Bears led the game 3-1 going into the seventh and final regulation inning thanks to RBI’s from Tyler Besner, Gavin Poitras, and Dane Peters, but the Barons showed determination, scoring three times in the top of the inning to go out on top 4-3. Down to their last out in the bottom of the inning, Tyler Besner hit an RBI double to tie the game up at 4 and send it to extra innings.

Both teams scored twice in the 8th inning, while both Brett Daniels and Brad Berube pitched scoreless 9th innings. The Bears scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning, with a passed ball bringing home the runner from 3rd base.

Brad Berube, Miguel Champagne, and Brody St. Jean got clutch hits in the top of the 3-run 7th inning for the Barons, with Champagne picking up 2 RBI’s in the game.

The Bears face the West Ferris Trojans in the Championship game Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at Veterans Field.

Meanwhile, the Barons and the Northern Braves face each other in the Consolation game Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Veterans Field.
