The St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears had their OFSAA experience come to an end Friday morning as they were defeated 8-3 by Notre Dame College from Welland.

Devan Turcotte scored twice for the Bears. Matt Strood had the other Bears goal and Kevin Kosturik had 2 assists.

Dustin Gatt scored 3 times for Notre Dame and Josh Gervais had 2 goals and 1 assists to pace the winners.

With the loss, the Bears finish 0-4 as OFSAA 'AAA/AAAA' hosts. Bears head coach John Wilson is still proud of his club despite some of the lopsided games they lost this week.

"There’s a lot of talent out here and talent wise player for player we aren’t in that top group but heart-wise there is no one out there that can touch us," said Wilson.

"We wore our hearts on our sleeve today and do our school proud, represent our city well and compete hard in our last game at OFSAA."

Playoffs

The Bears have played their last game but OFSAA hockey will continue over the weekend, with quarter-finals starting at Pete Palangio arena and Memorial Gardens Friday afternoon.

The semi-finals begin at 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Gardens Saturday morning. The bronze medal game take place at 4:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens with the Gold Medal contest facing off at 6:00 p.m.
