PARRY SOUND, ON - This past Saturday the St Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears Junior girls’ volleyball team traveled to Parry Sound for the Panther – Killer Instinct Invitational tournament.
During pool play the team went undefeated beating Almaguin, Elliot Lake and the host team from Parry Sound in straight sets [2-0].

In the semi-finals the Bears defeated a very spirited team from Champlain High School in straight sets [2-0] to qualify for the finals against an NDA rival, the Chippewa Raiders.

The finals were a well played match by both teams. When the dust settled the Bears came out the victors in a close straight set [2-0] win.

“It was our first tournament of the season and the girls got stronger as the day went on,” stated head coach Dave Buckle. “The girls are still getting to know each other and our systems. It was great to get everyone court time in every match; I’m sure it will pay dividends by the end of the season.”

The Bears and the Raiders don’t have much time to rest as they are again traveling together; this time to Uxbridge for the “Tiger Classic Tournament” scheduled for Tuesday 15th, December.
