Bears humbled at OFSAA

The St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears finished up the OFSAA AAAA/AAA Boys Hockey Tournament Friday with a 5-2 loss to Mayfield in their final game of the tournament taking place in Ottawa this week.

Mat Pepin and Mark Lecappelian scored for the Bears in the game played at the Scotiabank Place in Kanata.

The NOSSA and NDA champions finished the week with 0 wins, 1 tie and 3 losses and failed to make the playoff round.

The tournament started for the Bears on Wednesday when they
lost 6-2 to Denis Morris. Ryan Davis and Mat Pepin scored in the opener for the Bears.

Thursday morning the Bears rebounded with a 3-3 tie against Cardinal Newman. Nick Shiavo scored twice in the tie and Mat Pepin scored the other Bears marker.

Thursday afternoon the Bears fell 5-4 to Nelson. Graham Loyst scored three times in the loss. Nick Shiavo had the other Bears goal.

It was an interesting test for the Bears who will be hosting the 2009 OFSAA AAAA/AAA Boys Hockey Tournament next April.
