It is a brand new year and the North Bay Trappers are at it again. This season’s Christmas break ycould not have come at a better time. Personally, the holidays gave me a great opportunity to recharge, refocus and re-equip for the second half of the season. Although it wasn’t a super long vacation, I had all the time I needed to visit my family and friends. I also tried to stay on the ice as much as possible.

Leaving North Bay’s airport at 5 am on the 19th of December took me from -4 degree weather to an overwhelming -21 degrees in Calgary. Needless to say I was missing North Bay already. I was greeted by my family in at the airport and embraced them all, not having seen them for quite some time. The first few days were filled with family suppers and visits, a gift exchange here or there and a chance to catch-up with all of those I had not talked with in a while. Conversations were largely based around hockey and school, but it was amazing how quickly the time flew by.

My Family spent both Christmas Eve and the following days with our extended family out in Cudworth, Saskatchewan. All the good company and food one could ask for; an absolute delight! As much as I enjoy unwrapping gifts, I would have to say the part I cherish the most from this past holiday was the quality time spent with my siblings, friends, cousins, parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents. So much fun packed into so little time, I could not have asked for a better holiday.

I hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as I did over the break, but it is time to go back to work, especially the Trappers!

GO! Trappers! GO!
