As most of you know, the Trappers have been on a bit of a slide as of late, but as any one player can tell you that with every down-slope comes a rapid and ever-increasing upwards slope. This past weekend, through hard work, dedication and team play the Trappers were able to obtain five of six possible points towards the league standings. It wasn’t easy and not everyone was cut out to see it through, but the positive turn is without a doubt in progress.

Losing streaks are tough, as I am sure everyone already knows; it is how the collective group of players reacts to all the losing that builds strong team unity and character. It is how hard the team is willing to battle through adversity to come out on top. Despite what you may have heard there are positive things that can be derived from a loss. For example; once you’re up by a goal or two in a game that is no time to quit, play with less heart or forget your reasoning for being there in the first place. Hockey is a game of mistakes so it’s not the end of the world if you make some. You run into trouble once you start making the same mistakes over and over again. The significance of a loss also stays with a player mentally. No one likes to lose, and if they do then they are not a hockey player. Half of the game is a mental workout, when you lose to a team, be it regular season or final round of the playoffs, you want to defeat them that much more the next time you face off. It is all the motivation one needs to come out of the gates pound the opposing team to the best of our abilities. As I said before, no one likes to lose, but learning from those losses is a key in developing yourself and improving your team. One must taste defeat before victory is truly enjoyed.

Everybody enjoys winning, and that’s exactly what the Jr. Trappers plan to give their loyal fans for the rest of the season. It’s up and only up from here. Nice chatting with you! Talk to you next week.

GO! Trappers! GO!
