Auld signs with Coyotes

Former Centennial Goaltender Alex Auld will be staying on this side of the pond after all as the The Phoenix Coyotes signed goaltender Alex Auld to a one-year contract on Monday. The 26-year-old spent last season with the Florida Panthers.
Former Centennial Goaltender Alex Auld will be staying on this side of the pond after all as the The Phoenix Coyotes signed goaltender Alex Auld to a one-year contract on Monday.

The 26-year-old spent last season with the Florida Panthers. The Thunder Bay native had a disappointing record of 7-13-5 and ended the year with a season ending injury early in 2007.

There were rumours coming out of the Miami Herald on the weekend that claimed Auld may be signing with a European team this fall.

Auld has a career record of 46-44-13 in five NHL season with Florida and Vancouver. He also has a 2.89 goals-against average and .902 save percentage.

Auld played for Canada in the 2006 World Hockey Championship in Latvia and won a bronze medal with Canada at the 2001 World Junior Championship.

He was selected by Florida in the second round of the 1999 draft.
