Alouettes win shootout

Rylan Henley scored the winning goal in a shootout to give the Nipissing Alouettes a 5-4 victory over the Deseronto Thunder Friday night. The Alouettes trailed 4-2 with with 4.29 to play when Henley notched his first goal of the night.

The Alouettes trailed 4-2 with with 4.29 to play when Henley notched his first goal of the night. Mitchell Sullivan pushed the game to overtime with just 7 seconds left in regulation. Matt Lathem and Niko Tonello also netted
goals for the Alouettes, Stephane Belanger had three assists.

Fortunes changed in the third period for the Alouettes, who appeared headed for their fifth straight loss when Deseronto's Toby Munden cross-checked Als forward Jake Gilbert into the boards, causing a nasty cut over Gilbert's lip. The Alouettes scored twice during the 5 minute powerplay. Gilbert was sent to hospital for stitches.

The Alouettes are in action next Saturday night when
the South Muskoka Shield come to Sturgeon Falls. Game
time is 8pm.

Alouettes All Stars

Seven Alouettes have been selected to play in the GMHL
All Star game January 17th in Gravenhurst. Those chosen
were: goaltender Dominic Leveille, defencemen Rylan
Henley and Jordan Brouse, and forwards Stephane
Belanger, Mitchell Sullivan, Dan Mitchell and Matt
Lathem.
