Alouettes crown the Kings

The Nipissing Alouettes won their second game of the young GMHL season on Friday night beating the visiting Espanola Kings 5-3 in Sturgeon Falls.
The Nipissing Alouettes won their second game of the young GMHL season on Friday night beating the visiting Espanola Kings 5-3 in Sturgeon Falls.

Cody Tourigny paced the Als attack scoring twice while Jesse Pedneault, former Chippewa Raider Andre Landry and North Bay product Will Laporte added singles.

Zane Patawanka scored twice for the Kings while Jacob Costanzi added the other.

Last year's NDA MVP and top goaltender Pat Beaudry was once again solid for the Alouettes making 35 saves including several spectacular stops to keep the Kings off the board in the third period.

The Alouettes now head to Espanola on Saturday for the second game of this home and home series. The Als close off the weekend with a home game against the Douro Dukes on Sunday afternoon. Game time is 2:00 p.m. at the Sturgeon Falls Arena.
