40 medals for Mattawa Figure Skating Club

The Mattawa Figure Skating Club sent 12 skaters to Gravenhurst, Ontario on January 18th and 19th to participate in a regional skating competition.


The Mattawa Figure Skating Club sent 12 skaters to Gravenhurst, Ontario on January 18th and 19th to participate in a regional skating competition.

Mattawa Skaters came out of the event winning 40 medals in total and taking home the Bill Gibbs Memorial Trophy.

Interclub is held annually and moves location within our Northern Ontario Region, Mattawa hosted Interclub in 2006.

At an Interclub competition points are awarded for every event the skater competes in and for every medal and ribbon received. The Bill Gibbs Memorial Trophy is awarded to the club with the highest point’s ratio medals won to number of skaters.

Skaters enter events according to their skating abilities they all competed in multiply events; such as Solos, Interpretive, Elements, Team Elements, Spin Event and Skills. The girls also competed in Team spiral and Team shoot the duck, a fun event with 4 skaters linked together in either a spiral or shoot the duck position.
