OPP in North Bay, Mattawa and Powassan investigated 39 traffic related incidents during yesterday’s first snow storm of the season.

Most were traffic blockages due to large vehicles stopping or slowing on most Highway hills in the area.
Problems were solved after area plows and sanders made their way through the slowdowns. No major injuries were incurred in the over 10 motor vehicle collisions investigated.

OPP would like to remind motorists to continue to use caution during the changing conditions.

In amongst the traffic problems, police still had to investigate other matters.
OPP in North Bay are asking the public’s assistance into a missing boat and motor.
On Monday November 3rd, 2003, at approximately 4:45p.m., 68 year-old Ray Hamilton was towing his boat and motor on a trailer from Wyse Lake, Wyse Township on McConnell Lake Road. When he reached Highway 63, he discovered that the boat and motor fell off on the way.
He attempted to locate it without success.
Missing is a 12 foot aluminum green ‘Mirror’ runabout and a 1997 9.9 grey Evinrude outboard motor.

A man in his 30’s attempted to steal a Polaris 4 wheeler in the early hours of Tuesday November 4th, 2003.
At 1:30 p.m. yesterday, police received a compliant that at approximately 4:00 a.m., a man attempted to steal a 4 wheeler from a property at 5 Line 3, Bonfield Township.
He was unsuccessful as he was scared off by the owner and his dog.

There were no other descriptors provided and police are continuing their investigation.

Police received a complaint of theft of gas from 9747 Highway 63 in Redbridge, Ontario. 32 year-old Scott Lepoudre of Redbridge parked his 1991 Dodge Pick-up in the rear of his property.

Within the last 2 weeks, thieves emptied the tank of approximately $25.00 worth of gas in the truck.

Lepoudre wanted this reported in case other residents were victims as well.
