IDLING MIGHT KEEP YOUR CAR WARM
‘But will it stay there?’

North Bay, Ont.
The recent drop in temperatures has made everyone prepare to stay warm and cozy during this winter.

This involves wearing warm layered clothing, keeping the temperature raised in the home and extends to warming up the family vehicle by letting it run to keep the interior warm.

Many people go to a store or stop on the street to run an errand and leave the vehicle unattended, unlocked and idling.

This practice may keep your vehicle warm, but may invite someone else to take it away from you.

The vehicle you own is valuable.
You have invested plenty by paying insurance and possibly making monthly financial payments for that new fine-looking ride.

The North Bay OPP do not want you to lose that vehicle you worked so hard to own.

It is not a recommended practice to leave your vehicle unattended with the engine on.

If you choose to leave your car running, make sure you have extra keys and keep it locked.

Invest in a remote car starter and alarm. This allows you to run your vehicle without keys and if an intruder attempts to steal the vehicle, it will shut off and an audible alarm may be activated to deter the theft.

Be Wise…Help prevent theft!
