ASSAULT AND BREAK-IN INVESTIGATED IN MATTAWA

Mattawa OPP charged a 66 year-old Papineau-Cameron Township man with assault after police were called regarding an argument.

Police were dispatched to a Martel Road residence shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 16th, 2003 to investigate a disturbance involving three males. Further investigation revealed that a male party was slightly injured after an altercation in a driveway.

66 year-old Jean Paul Belanger of Papineau-Cameron Township is charged with assault and will appear in the Mattawa Ontario Court of Justice at 160 Water Street, Mattawa, Ontario in February, 2004.

Later in the day, Mattawa OPP were called shortly after 3:00 p.m. to investigate a break-in that occurred at 450 Old Highway 17, Papineau-Cameron Township. Sometime between Tuesday December 9th, and Tuesday December 16th, 2003, someone broke into a residence at this location. Police discovered that this residence was broken into a month previously however it was not reported until this date. Some items were taken and a list has yet to be compiled for police.
