In the winter, police investigate more minor collisions and vehicles that slide into ditches because of constant changing driving conditions.

Many on these mishaps are low-impact collisions. Remember, a vehicle traveling at 50 km/h, a 80 kg (176 lbs) person not wearing a seat belt will strike the inside of their vehicle with the force of 2,785 kg (6,127lbs).

Imagine the impact when traveling at greater highway speeds.

Remember to wear your seat belt.
Seatbelts reduce your risk of fatal injury by 45%. 75% of people who are ejected from their vehicle die as a result of not buckling up.
