POLICE SEEKING ASSISTANCE IN DESTRUCTION TO SIGN
‘Jewel of the North’ Sign Toppled

(North Bay, Ontario)
North Bay OPP is asking for your assistance regarding damage to the Jewel of the North sign located on the east side of Highway 63, opposite Widdifield Station Road.

During the day Sunday April 4th, someone cut the sign down with a chain saw.
Just a week earlier police investigated spray paint damage to four Jewel of the North roadway/billboard signs.
Police are asking the public if they observed vehicles and/or pedestrians in the area of Highway 63 opposite Widdifield Station Road on Sunday April 4th.
Police also wish to pinpoint the exact time the sign was damaged. In addition police are asking if they heard or observed a pick-up truck travelling at high speeds along Highway 63 at around midnight on Sunday March 28th, 2004 as this may be related to the spray paint incident.
If anyone has information regarding Sunday’s damage or the previous spray painting of the signs, please call Constable Kim Bowes of North Bay OPP at (705)495-3878 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
