School Bus Collision (Powassan) On Feb. 11, at 4:40 pm, a school bus owned by Deluxe Coach Lines of North Bay, was carrying approximately 10 student passengers northbound on Maplehill Road in Powassan.

On Feb. 11, at 4:40 pm, a school bus owned by Deluxe Coach Lines of North Bay, was carrying approximately 10 student passengers northbound on Maplehill Road in Powassan.

The bus hit a frost heave and two 17 year old female sitting in the far rear of the bus, were tossed in the air and injured when they struck the seat in front of them.

The two females were transported by ambulance to the North Bay General Hospital with minor injuries. OPP and MTO investigated.

MAN HELD AFTER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED AND DRUG OFFENCE

The North East Region Traffic and Marine Unit stopped an eastbound red Pontiac on Highway 17 for a traffic offence shortly after midnight on Thursday February 12th, 2004 just east of Sturgeon Falls.

Constable Jeannine Grassie found that the driver had been consuming alcohol.

The officer also located a small quantity of marihuana in the vehicle.

The driver was arrested and is currently being held for a bail hearing scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the North Bay Ontario Court of Justice at 360 Plouffe St., North Bay, Ontario.

Barry Magill, 27, of Sudbury, is being held and charged with the following offences:
1) Drive Motor Vehicle with over 80 mgs, Section 253(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
2) Drive While Disqualified, Section 259(4)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
3) Possession Schedule II Marihuana – Under 30 grams, Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.
