SCHOOL BUS CAMPAIGN KICK OFF

The North Bay OPP will be partnering up with the “Let’s Remember Adam” campaign, which is celebrating their 10th anniversary, to launch this initiative.

SCHOOL BUS CAMPAIGN KICK OFF

(NORTH BAY, ON) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding motorists to be more alert while driving when school buses are out.  The buses are equipped with flashing red lights, stop arm and other safety equipment to ensure that they can be easily seen.

Through data analysis the North Bay OPP has noted an increase in incidents involving school buses in the month of October.  The North Bay OPP will be doing extra patrols on the roadways in our area during school bus hours.

Failing to stop for a stopped school bus that has its overhead red signal lights flashing can result in a fine from $400 to $2,000 and have six demerit points added to your licence for a first offence.  In Ontario, school-bus drivers and other witnesses can report vehicles that have illegally passed a school bus.  If you are the vehicle’s registered owner, these same fines may be applied to you.

The North Bay OPP will be partnering up with the “Let’s Remember Adam” campaign, which is celebrating their 10th anniversary, to launch this initiative.
