THEFT OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS/WEEK TWO R.I.D.E (Bonfield, On) OPP North Bay is investigating a theft of a backpack from a vehicle that was parked in front of Bonfield Kwik-Way located at 309 Church Street, sometime between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

OPP North Bay is investigating a theft of a backpack from a vehicle that was parked in front of Bonfield Kwik-Way located at 309 Church Street, sometime between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Sunday December 14th, 2003.

The backpack contained several valuable items including three prescribed medications. Police are issuing a warning about the medication.

The prescriptions are heart medication which could be harmful if taken by the wrong person.

Police are issuing a plea to the public to use caution if presented with suspicious pills on the street.
The medication is as follows: one box blister-packed pills of ADALAT (heart medication) ; one box blister-packed pills of ARTACAND ( blood thinner); and a bottle containing pills of OXYCONTIN (narcotic pain killers).

Other items taken include a Casio electronic organizer; a wallet containing identification and $60.00 cash; 20 assorted compact discs; and a Sony Discman.

During Week Two of the North Bay, Mattawa, and Powassan Festive R.I.D.E. Initiative (Dec 5 – Dec 11, 2003) 2,857 vehicles were stopped. OPP officers issued two 12-hour suspensions and one driver was charged with impaired driving during this period.
There were 33 collisions throughout the area; seven of those were personal injury collisions in which eight people were injured.
