POLICE SEEKING ASSISTANCE IN THEFT ICE SHACK

North Bay OPP is asking for your assistance regarding the theft of an ice shack during the removal of shacks from Lake Nipissing in March 2004.

On Sunday March 7th, 2004, the owner was towing his ice shack from the area of Campbell’s Bay to the area of Iron Island, Lake Nipissing approximately seven kilometres off shore near Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, when one of the skis of the shack broke down. The owner had to abandon the shack until he could return with a trailer to tow it back to shore.

On Monday March 29th, 2004, the owner returned to find that his ice shack was missing.

The shack is six feet by eight feet in diameter with a seven-foot roof that slopes to the rear of the structure.
The shack is made of tin metal with four windows and has custom made skis.

It contained a Hunter – Douglas Propane stove. This ice shanty was valuable to the owner and would cost approximately $2,000.00 to replace.

If anyone has information regarding this theft, please call Constable Paul Karosas of the North Bay OPP at (705)495-3878 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
