WINNIPEG — Blake Wheeler knows the Winnipeg Jets have offence that can explode at any time. It did Tuesday night. The captain was one of seven players who scored, and he added three assists, as the Jets defeated the Colorado Avalanche 7-4.

WASHINGTON — Jakub Vrana keeps finding another gear with his speed and another level to his game. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Flyers keep finding new lows in what's turning into a lost season.

DETROIT — Jeff Petry finally scored a goal against the Red Wings in Detroit, and it turned out to be decisive. Petry scored 19 seconds into the third period, and the Montreal Canadiens held on for a 3-2 victory over the Red Wings on Tuesday night.

BOSTON — Tuukka Rask was happy to share the credit after his first shutout of the season. The veteran goalie stopped 24 shots for his 250th career win as the Boston Bruins beat the Minnesota Wild 4-0 on Tuesday night.
