Teens face multiple charges in robbery

Two youths had committed several violent crimes

A couple of teenagers have been making some poor life decisions.

On July 21, at approximately 11:39 p.m., Kapuskasing OPP officers responded to a weapons call in the town.

Police located and arrested one male teen a short distance from the crime scene.

With the assistance of the OPP North East Region Criminal Investigation Unit, police determined that two youths had committed several violent crimes.

One youth, a 17 year old male from Smooth Rock Falls has been charged with the following offences under the Youth Criminal Justice Act:

  • Robbery with Weapon
  • Robbery with Theft 
  • Kidnapping 
  • Three counts of Assault with a Weapon
  • Three counts of Utterings Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Break, Enter Dwelling House - Commit Indictable Offence 
  • Mischief - Destroys or Damages Property
  • Five Counts of Fail to Comply with Sentence

A second youth, a 15 year old male from Kapuskasing, has been charged with the following offences under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA)

  • Robbery with Weapon 
  • Robbery with Theft 
  • Kidnapping - Confine 
  • Four counts of Assault with a Weapon 
  • Three counts of Utterings Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Break, Enter Dwelling House - Commit Indictable Offence 
  • Mischief - Destroys or Damages Property 
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Fail to Comply with Sentence 

The two teens remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in court in Cochrane today to answer to the charges.
