On March 9th, Grade 11 Barons at École secondaire catholique Algonquin presented a cheque for $1,800.00 to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation after raising funds from a sale of products designed and produced at school.

As part of a class project within the Entrepreneurship course during the first semester, eight groups of students each chose a product concept based on an original idea, polled students in grades 7-12 to find out their appeal, calculated the costs associated with producing it as well as its profitability and made a marketing pitch to decide if their product was viable.

The eight groups then prepared a marketing campaign, made a sample of their product in the school's MakerSpace, made it available to all students and staff at the Business Fair, and then produced the quantity ordered and delivered their product to buyers. A custom lanyard, a pair of custom laces, a hoodie printed with the group's logo, an embroidered crewneck shirt with a choice of imagery, an engraved aluminum water bottle, a custom workout shirt, an international candy bag, and a do-it-yourself cookie jar were the products featured.

In partnership with the Lakers Break the Ice on Mental Health event, proceeds from product sales were donated to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation.
